The Ecowitt WittBoy (GW3001) is a revised and improved version of the original GW2001 includes a state of the art haptic and sonic technology based weather station.

It includes the 7-in-1 outdoor sensor (WS90) and WiFi / wired gateway (GW3000) for uploading data to the internet. This weather station makes an ideal starter kit for those that want a weather station than can be expanded in the future and includes full internet access.

Paired with the 7-in-1 outdoor sensor array (WS90) which no longer uses the traditional tipping bucket rain gauge, but a haptic (Piezo) sensor which measures rainfall. The revised rainfall sensor is slightly sloped to improve accuracy and prevent rain pooling and also includes rain start detection before measurable rain has fallen.

The outdoor sensor also measures temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, UV level and light intensity. It requires mounting on the top of a 1 inch pole to ensure accurate readings. To keep the top of the rain, UV and light sensor clear of debris we also include anti bird spikes which can be installed should this become a tempting spot for birds to perch.

The GW3000 gateway can connect via WiFi to a router, or via a traditional RJ45 ethernet cable and includes a USB based mains power adapter.  The GW3000 also includes the revised antenna for improved reception and an optional replacement antenna to extend the reception range even further, up to 350 meter in ideal conditions. The gateway also benefits from an included MicroSD card slot so not only can you upload dates to online services, but also store it locally on a data card.

The outdoor data, along with the indoor temperature, humidity and pressure data is uploaded to the Ecowitt service via the gateway and is used to calculate rainfall rate, wind chill, dew point and heat index. All of this can be viewed on the App, or Ecowitt weather website.

You are not just limited to weather data on the Ecowitt weather site or App, you can optionally share your data further afield with access to:
