The Ecowitt GW1202 weather station consists of the anemometer with solar radiation and UV Sensor, a separate outdoor temperature and humidity sensor along with the revised IoT WiFi gateway (GW1200) and self emptying rain gauge making a great sensor set for those that want a modular weather station with full internet access. 

The anemometer sensor (WS68) not only measures wind speed and direction, but also UV level and light intensity. Mounting these additional sensors on the anemometer ensures that they can be placed to receive maximum exposure to the elements.  The anemometer sensors are powered by solar power and also battery which makes for infrequent battery changes.

Also included is a separate outdoor temperature and humidity sensor (WN32) which allows for versatile placement out of direct rain and sun for precise readings.

The a separate rain sensor (WH40H) measures rain fall and is self emptying for easy of use. Unlike some other manufacturers, this rain sensor measures in 0.1mm increments which is better than many premium brands. 

The included GW1200 WiFi gateway can be configured through the Ecowitt App or through a web browser so a smart device is optional for the setup. The gateway connects to the included outdoor sensor array along with a variety of additional optional sensors. Being an IoT gateway in can control and manage IoT devices such as the WFC01 water valves and AC1100 power sockets. This is a great starter pack for setting up your own weather station ecosystem.

The gateway is USB powered and also has indoor temperature, humidity and barometric pressure sensors on a wired probe so that they can be kept away from sources of heat which would skew readings.

All the sensor data is uploaded to the Ecowitt service via WiFi and is used to calculate rainfall rate, wind chill, dew point and heat index. This can be viewed on the App, or Ecowitt weather website in a web browser.

But you are not just limited to weather data on the Ecowitt weather site or App, you can optionally share your data further afield with access to:
