The Ecowitt WH51 Soil Moisture Sensor and WiFi gateway makes an ideal starter set for those that wish to monitor soil conditions of their plants. This bundle allows you to expand your equipment over time and build a modular weather station with full internet access and give you a choice of gateways.
The GW1106 model includes the GW1100 WiFi gateway with builtin temperature, humidity and barometric pressure sensors for indoor readings. The gateway has these sensors on a wired probe so that they can be kept away from sources of heat which would skew readings.
If you opt for the GW1206 model, the GW1200 gateway is included as part of the package which as well as the features above, also has the ability to control Ecowitt IoT devices such as smart plugs and water timers.
The GW2006 model includes the GW2000 gateway which again has the above features, but also adds the ability to control the Ecowitt Internet of Things devices such as power sockets and water valves.
Finally the GW3006 model again has all of the above features, but also adds a microSD card slot for local data recording and an external antenna for improved communications.
This gateway data, along with the Soil Moisture sensor data is uploaded to the Ecowitt service via WiFi and can be viewed on the App, or on the Ecowitt weather website.
Adding primary weather sensors allows you to share your data further afield with free access to the UK MetOffice WoW service, Weather Underground, WeatherCloud and your own web server*

*All of these are available to view in the App, or online via Ecowitt.net and in the 3rd party websites that support this sensor types. The MetOffice WoW service now supports the first sensor of this type.
