Wind speed and wind direction sensor for Ecowitt WN67 or WS69 sensor array. Only suitable for the I shaped array with wind direction and speed mounted above each other.
Easily fitted by removing one large nut/bolt and then a smaller locking screw within the main arm. Bottom section them twists off to reveal two cables releasing the anemometer sensor array. Ensure the two cables are marked to reassemble as they are identical, see photo for original factory marking in black.
Units works perfectly after replacement. However the design has not improved, so I expect failure in the future. Rain ingress damages the bearing system.
Instructions should also be included to aid most people. Connectors are not marked and you must do this before dismantling the original (see product images). The working space is small and will be difficult for anyone with large fingers. Otherwise a simple 15min replacement.
Again the top seal is a key point of water ingress for areas with high wind speeds. Maybe a very light oil annually would help, but the addition would cause drag on the sensor and affect the readings. No worse than corrosion causing drag I expect But without something to 'repel' moisture, the upper bearing will fail again, quite soon. Mine lasted 2 winters of strong winds before not rotating in winds below about 30mph and then giving duff readings.
